Parenting can be a rollercoaster ride full to twists and turns. But when it comes to raising anxious daughters, it’s like riding a rollercoaster while juggling flaming torches!

Anxious daughters can have minds that spin faster than a hamster running on his own wheel. They worry about EVERYTHING from school tests to what color socks to wear to how dinner plans are going to work if we are going out to eat to if anyone is talking about them. But with the right approach, I have found ways to nurture their worries away and fill their lives with nothing but love and laughter.

We have to embrace the fact that worrywarts are just wired differently than the rest of us. Their brains are like overactive popcorn machines – constantly popping thoughts and concerns with no filter. Instead of trying to squash their worries like bugs on a windshield, you have to learn how to navigate through this chaotic terrain.

Nurturing anxious daughters starts with creating a safe space where they feel comfortable expressing their fears without judgement. Encourage open conversations and listen attentively as they share their worries, even if it’s about a monster hiding in their closet/under their bed or forgetting their favorite stuffed animal.

Don’t forget the power of humor! Laughter is truly the best medicine for anxious souls. Cracking jokes and playing games that make them giggle uncontrollably, even having dance parties in our pjs (even parents can bust a move or two). Laughter seems to help release tension and reminds us that our little worriers (no matter their age) that life isn’t always as serious as it seems to be.

When I am stressed, I really try to set a good example on how I handle that stress with grace, but sometimes when I go head-on to conquer that stress/fears I may be seen as a boss, but deep down I feel more like a frightened squirrel who just dodged a car.

If you are on this adventure of raising anxious daughters/kids, take a deep breath and continue embarking on this wild journey filled with love, laughter, and a sprinkle of patience while navigating their fears and embracing the world with confidence. I know that I got this!
