Move over, Where’s Waldo? It’s time for a new game called, “Where’s the Grasshopper?” These elusive little acrobats of the insect kingdom have a knack for playing hide’n’seek, especially when I am armed with my fancy new camera. It’s almost as if they have a 6th sense of when I am about to snap that perfect shot. I wait patiently, camera in hand, ready to capture their vibrant colors, and intricate details. As soon as I approach, they leap into action, effortlessly disappearing into the foliage faster than Houdini himself. It’s almost as if they have been training in ninja stealth techniques just to avoid being photographed.
I try my best to outsmart them, employing all sorts of sneaky tactics and clever strategies. I crawl on my belly like a secret agent, trying to get the perfect angle. I even attempt some grasshopper whispering in hopes of luring them out of their hiding spot. But … the grasshoppers are always one step ahead. They mockingly chirp at me from their hidden perches as if saying, “Nice try! Better luck next time!”
As I continue this game of cat-n-mouse with these mischievous insects, determined that I will capture that elusive shot. And maybe one day, after countless failed attempts and endless laughter at my own expense, I will finally succeed in immortalizing those hopping wonders on film.
With my new camera, I was hoping that I would be able to capture their every hop and leap as they try to outsmart me in the ultimate game of hide-n-seek. Even this grasshopper at the top of my page, played the ultimate game. Every time I went out to capture that shot, it went the complete opposite of what it was suppose to. This was the best shot it would let me take of it. I had fun while chasing it from left to right, front to back. I think I may have even given it a round of applause for its impressive and swift hiding skills!
