“You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.” — Roy T. Bennett

First time to ever show my work in a public gallery – 2022

A comfort zone always magnifies and alters depending on experiences and situations we put ourselves in; either by fate or just leaping into them. Stepping outside of our comfort zone should develop skills, expand knowledge, and enrich one’s self-esteem. Once we realize how far we can go by just stepping out of our comfort zone we will be able to reach past the horizon.

I have been taking photos as long as I can remember. I didn’t really get into photography until about 2019/2020. Since then I have been taking photos of pretty much anything that really just catches my eye from nature to driving down the road to walking in the park to my kids playing sports. Last week I had some canvases made of 8 photos (I could have done more but this was a trial run for me) that I think others would like. I submitted them into an art exhibit that was to open to the public on Saturday, September 10th from 5-7p. She told me that it was her birthday and to dress fancy, like a dinner party.

About 1530, I got dressed (took me a few minutes to put it together) and before I knew it I was on my way. When I got there, I parked the car and sat there debating if I really wanted to leave my comfort zone and get out put myself out there (far outside my comfort zone) for all those who were curious of who took which photo. I forced myself out the car. Shut and locked the door. And made my way into the building, as nervous as can be. I met a lot of people and was grateful I forced myself out of my comfort zone and into the building of possible opportunities, etc. A lot of random people commented on my photos, asking questions about them, and telling me which ones were their favorite ones. I was just shocked that they really seem to like my photos.
